Celebration on the Rooftop
or maybe not!
The Society gathered in May for its Annual Spring Dinner. The plan was to party on the rooftop at the Hotel Valley Ho in downtown Scottsdale as we inducted our new officers and socialized with our members and their guests.
Of course, the original concern about being on the roof of the 8th floor was that we might get roasted.... and instead we had nice unseasonably cool weather. Unfortunately, we also had wind and rain. We managed to tough it out (with no complaints!) for the first part of cocktail hour, trying not to notice the big fat raindrops and swirling wind gusts, and instead concentrating on the beautiful views including Camelback Mountain. After those first 30 minutes, the rain intensified and the entire party was moved downstairs to the ballroom.
Fortunately, the weather did not dampen anyone's spirits and the wonderful evening was enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Julie Kwatra, outgoing president, as well as our other 2008-2009 officers. Welcome to Michael Hibner and the new board for 2009-2010!
