The Society in joint sponsorship with ACOG AZ Section held its 32nd Annual Symposium in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Buttes Marriott in Tempe February 19-21. In this beautiful setting (with beautiful weather as well!), participants were educated in a variety of topics in women's health from excellent, dynamic speakers. National faculty included:
- Arnold Advincula, MD from Michigan speaking about Robotics
- Suzanne Donovan, MD, MPH from California speaking with an HIV Update
- Marlene Freeman, MD from Massachusetts on the subject of Women's Mental Health
- Peter Schwartz, MD from Pennsylvania speaking about the ACOG Grievance Process
- Karine Chung, MD from California lecturing about the Preservation of Fertility
Talented local speakers included: Renee Coury, RN, JD, John P. Elliott, MD, Michael Hibner, MD, Crista E. Johnson, MD, MSc, FACOG, Cathleen Harris, MD, MPH, Loretta J. Robertson, PT, OCS, Diana Munger, PT, DPT, Paul Steinberg, MD, MWS, FAAFP, Gregg Giannina, MD, Leann Allgood, MD, FACS, Michael Janicek, MD, Kurt Bendenbender, DO and Kelly Roy, MD
Our 2009 Symposium was special as it included our first live tele-surgery performed by Dr. Michael Hibner at St. Joseph's Hospital. The interactive format provided a wonderful opportunity for our participants to ask questions and interact with Dr. Hibner as the surgery was performed. 2009 also marked the debut of our Audience Response System with several of our speakers using the ARS to quiz, poll & survey the particpants during their lectures. Additional highlights were the excellent presentations by the residents for the Ray Jennett Society and an AZ Section luncheon featuring Dr. Peter Schwartz & Dr. Thomas Purdon.
Thanks to all who participated - we appreciate your support of our Society and quality continuing educational programming!
